Travel and accommodation

Accommodation:

Galway is very popular in the summer months and so you are advised to book accommodation as early as possible.

Parking on Campus:

If you plan to arrive on campus by car it is important that you set up a parking permit in advance as paid parking is limited on campus (and free parking is non-existent). You can get a free parking permit for the two meeting days by setting up an account on the on-campus parking website:

https://nuig.apcoa.ie/applicant

On this website you first create an account in the upper right corner of the page. You then select on the left side of the page "apply for permits" at the University of Galway entry. A second column of permit options opens up. In this column scroll to the bottom where you will see the free option for parking permits for the INAM. Note that the parking permit is car specific as identified by the license plate, so make sure that you are putting the correct license plate number into the system. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you run into any difficulties.

Important: You can park anywhere on campus between WHITE lines, with the exception of designated loading zones or lots that say "reserved". The parking permit does not include the BLUE lined parking lots  that are for paid parking (for those you would have to buy a ticket at the respective parking meters). We advice to arrive early if possible as parking tends to fill up mid-morning.

Additionally, on this website there are parking options outside of the university campus listed should you find no parking spot on campus:

Travel from the train station:

If you arrive in Galway by train, then you have multiple options to get to the conference venue. From the train station it is roughly a 25 min walk to the conference venue. In good weather it is a very nice walk through the city. Alternatively, you can take the much shorter walk to Eyre Square and take a bus to the stop Newcastle PO, which is right outside the University entrance nearest to the meeting venue. The bus ride from Eyre Square should take roughly 15 min. You can also take a taxi from Eyre Square (or direct from the train station), which should get you to the conference venue in roughly 10 min. Note that Galway traffic is famously congested, especially in the early morning during rush hour, so you may want to plan some extra time if you want to avail of public transportation or a taxi. We have the public transportation options listed for you here:
